At the Inglewood Athletics Centre, we run competitions for children aged 5-16 years. Our athletes compete by age group, using their year of birth. Our registration page has more information about competition age groups.

We know how important it is for children to try a new sport before they’re signed up. We offer a ‘Come and Try’ option at the beginning of each summer season where your child can attend two pre-season training sessions and our first competition day free of change. Have a read of our ‘Come and Try’ information, which also includes a sign-up link.

Athletics, and especially Little Athletics, is definitely not about being the fastest, fittest or strongest child – it’s about learning new things, keeping fit, having fun and meeting new friends. We say it’s about personal bests and being your best.

One of the great things about club athletics is that kids can try lots of different track and field events, from running, walking, hurdles, javelin, discus, shot put, long jump, high jump and triple jump. There really is something for everyone.

Older athletes considering senior Strive competition can also try hammer throw, pole vault and steeplechase!

For a program of events, visit the calendar page.

Athletics West and Strive events calendars can be found on their Events page.

Inglewood welcomes any athlete, regardless of background, identity or ability. Athletics is for everyone! Should you need extra support, our dedicated Diversity and Inclusion Officer will work with you to determine what the Centre can do to ensure that you can participate with maximum enjoyment, respect and dignity.

We know family life is busy, so we offer three training options for our Inglewood Little and Junior athletes (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons).

Those who are part of the senior Strive group can train on Wednesday evenings.

Check out our training page  for more details.

One of the common misconceptions about community athletics is that competition days are really long.

At the Inglewood Athletics Centre this is definitely not the case. We’ve worked hard over the years to streamline our competition meets and we aim to finish by 12:00pm every Saturday. Plenty of weekend time left to keep enjoying the summer sunshine.

Like all sporting clubs, the Inglewood Athletics Centre could not run without volunteers. Everyone involved at Inglewood is a volunteer and all families are required to provide a volunteer to help eight (8) times during the competition season and at least twice (2) during our Centre Championships. Good news is, unlike other centres, there’s no roster – you can select the dates which work best for your family! Luckily, Inglewood parents have a rep for being phenomenal helpers, so many hands make light work.

There are lots of ways to get involved and help out, and it really is great fun. It’s not just the kids who have made lifelong friends from club Athletics!

We’ve provided more information on our volunteer page.

Registrations for the 2025/2026 summer season open on September 1st, first training day is September 15th for Centre athletes and October 1st for Strive athletes, and the first competition day is Saturday 11 October.  The summer season ends around mid-March. Check out our season calendar for all the dates you need to know.

All registrations for the Inglewood Athletics Centre are done online. You can register and pay online (including registering multiple children) in a few steps. We’ve provided a registration guide on the registration page.

Registrations for the summer season at Inglewood Athletics vary according to what membership type you wish to purchase; the fee structure is here. There is no discount for additional children, but pre-approved KidSport vouchers are accepted.

An Inglewood centre uniform is compulsory for club, Strive and State Event meets, but not for training. Uniforms can be purchased on training and competition days at the Inglewood Athletics Centre clubhouse in Dianella. The uniforms page includes a full list of uniform options as well as current prices.

Our coaches love athletics and love helping your athletes to be their best. We have accredited coaches, enthusiastic parents, current senior and ex-athletes who give their time to help your child grow in confidence on the track and in the field. If you are interested in being a coach, reach out to one of our Head Coaches at training. They would love to have you on board.

Track and Field Athletics runs for the summer season from October until March; and a winter season of cross country and road walking is available between April and August.

For athletes aged 11 years age and over we provide a pathway to senior athletics competition at Athletics West. The Fuel to Go & Play Track and Field Season (or ‘Strive‘) offers weekly athletics competitions for Athletics West affiliated members from October through until March at the WA Athletics Stadium, in Claremont. Athletes holding Junior Dual, Junior Strive, Senior or Masters Dual membership types can participate.
