training and coaching at inglewood little athletics

Family-friendly training days and enthusiastic, talented coaches

You know what they say, kids learn best when their teachers love teaching, and that’s exactly what happens when your little athlete comes to train at the Inglewood Little Athletics Centre.

Our coaches love athletics and love helping your little athletes to be their best.

We have present and ex-athletes, senior athletes and parents who volunteer their time to help your child grow in confidence on the track and in the field.

Flexible training options for busy families

We know family life is busy, so we offer three training day options for your little athlete:

  • Mondays from 4:30 – 6pm
  • Tuesdays from 4:30 – 6pm
  • Thursdays from 4:30 – 6pm

Our senior athletes train on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30pm.

How many training sessions do you attend?

Our three main training sessions are open to all Inglewood little athletes, and depending on your child’s age group, they can choose to attend up to three training sessions each week.

  • U6 – 10 athletes can choose one training session each week
  • U11 – 13 athletes can choose up to two (2) training sessions each week
  • U14 and above can choose up to three (3) training sessions each week (this helps reduce the effect of repetitive exercise on their growing bodies)

When does summer training start?

Summer training starts on Monday, 16 September.

We train at Wordsworth Reserve for the first two weeks, then our home ground, Dianella Reserve No.3 (off Morley Drive, between Light Street and Alexander Drive).

When does winter training start?

Our winter training starts in April and runs through until August.

  • Cross country training: Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 – 5:15pm at Yokine Reserve (corner of Wordsworth Avenue and Dryden Streets, Yokine)
  • Race walk training: Mondays from 5:00pm – 6:00pm at Hillcrest Reserve (Coode Street, Bayswater).

Join the coaching fun

If you’re a parent or senior athlete and you’d like to join our coaching team, come and have a chat to one of our head coaches.

We’d love your help to lead a group of little athletes.

You’ll also receive incentives to help you become an accredited athletics coach, if you decide you’d like to take the next step.

Find out more about the athletics coach accreditation course by visiting the WA Athletics website or catch one of the Inglewood coaches at training. They’re always happy to answer questions.
